An Algarvian newsroom, for Portugal and for Europe
Why PrompTugal is a company from Loulé, what it can do for the Algarve's jobs, talent and startups, and why it is tested first at Web Summit Lisbon.
PrompTugal is an Algarvian company. I want that said plainly, because it is part of the story, not a footnote.
My Feeds (MYFEEDS AI, UNIPESSOAL, LDA), the company that publishes PrompTugal.news, was incorporated in Portugal on 22 October 2025, with its seat in Loulé, in the district of Faro. It is expected to take the PrompTugal name. An Algarvian company, based in Portugal, in the European Union.
Not new to the region
I did not discover the Algarve last week. The first OWASP Summit, which I organised and drove, was held in the Algarve in 2008. Bringing people together to build things here is something I have done before.
What is new is a company, and a newsroom, that means to be part of the region's ecosystem rather than a visitor to it.
The Algarve's tech story is scattered
Everything is here. Companies, startups, a university, events, programmes, talent, investors. But it lives on separate pages, separate feeds and separate rooms. Nobody can see it whole.
That is exactly the problem PrompTugal was built for. The idea behind My Feeds was always two graphs: one of the content, every fact with its source and the date it was read, and one of the person reading it. Point that at a region and you get one sourced map: who builds what, who works where, what happened and what comes next, kept current rather than written once and forgotten.
Why news, for a region
News is how a region gets noticed. Noticed, it grows. Companies start and grow, they make news, the news brings attention from Lisbon, from Europe and from AI agents, and the attention brings talent and investors who find the region and stay. Every turn makes the next one easier.
What keeps the wheel turning is the one thing a regional ecosystem rarely has: someone writing it all down, every day, with sources.
That last audience matters more each month. When someone asks an assistant "who builds AI in the Algarve?", the answer should come from a sourced page made here. Every page on PrompTugal has a markdown twin for AI agents, the site has an llms.txt, and the data is published as JSON.
Jobs and talent
A publishing technology company creates new kinds of work, and that work can be done from the Algarve:
- editors and journalists, who decide, check and sign what is published;
- developers, building the platform in the open;
- designers, for pages, graphs, the brand and the app;
- people who lead teams of AI agents, with written limits and budgets;
- sales and partnerships, with events, publishers and the region;
- and teaching the method: how to run agentic workflows safely, taught locally.
I will not put a headcount on that until we have one. These are kinds of work, not a promise of numbers.
Talent is the other half. For the summit we already keep a graph of 264 people (public and professional roles only), 236 organisations and 83 places. The same graph, pointed at the Algarve, becomes a map of who does what here and the skills that exist, so they are found here instead of leaving.
Startups
Everything we build is open: code under Apache-2.0, text and data under CC BY 4.0. A founder in the region can start from it, or license it on their own terms with us maintaining it. My newsroom has already covered "a sold-out day of building with AI in Faro". Build days like that, written up and kept, are how a startup scene sees itself.
Tested first at Web Summit
The company is from the Algarve; the first test is in Lisbon. Web Summit, 9 to 12 November 2026, is where we find out whether people use PrompTugal, find it useful and pay. Then the regional beat, covered every day.
Portugal and Europe
From Portugal: I already run a Portuguese-language newsroom on the country's AI ecosystem, at pt.newsroom.sgit.ai. For Europe: growth across the European Union, and investors from anywhere in Europe. As I wrote in 2025, "Europe's values of openness, multilingualism, sustainability, and human-centric innovation align closely with where GenAI is headed." The decks are already in four languages.
What I ask of the region
We are new here as a company. Tell us what exists. Which grants and programmes fit? Who should we meet? Whose event can we cover? And correct us: every page we publish about the Algarve is meant to be corrected and added to by the people it is about.
The organisations we would like to work with, in the Algarve, Portugal and Europe, are listed on the investor site. None has endorsed us; the list says where we want to belong. If someone is missing, tell me.
