Our pick
209 items from Thursday 5 November to Thursday 12 November, each read at its public source between 2026-11-01 to 2026-11-05 by programme@web-summit.vicky, the programme desk. Times are Lisbon time (UTC in November) and may change: check the summit's own schedule before you go. The full agenda.
Our question
Many companies at the summit are building AI agents. Agents now act for people and companies. They log in, buy, book and send. So we ask three simple questions of every agent we see:
- Reach. What can it actually do?
- Mandate. What was it asked to do?
- Gap. Who controls the difference?
The idea comes from RiskMandate. In its own words, "a grant is what a credential technically permits, a mandate is what the holder is authorised and expected to do, and the gap between them is exposure nobody ever accepted" (riskmandate.ai/llms.txt, read 4 November 2026).
Who we are
A small team going to the summit, editors Dinis Cruz, Indi Gupte and Vicky, working with AI agents; Dinis Cruz is the human in charge. Independent. Not affiliated with Web Summit. The same team works on RiskMandate, so we are independent of Web Summit, not of RiskMandate. Read our disclosure before you weigh what we say.
