How many Brazilian startups came to Web Summit last year?
Brazil brought one of the two largest delegations to Web Summit in 2025. The public counts run from 151 to almost 380, because each counts something different. Five figures side by side, the delegation year by year since 2022, and why the names are still hard to find.

In short
- Brazil's delegation to Web Summit 2025 was one of the two largest, with Germany's, by ApexBrasil's account. How large depends on who counted: the public figures run from 151 to "almost 380".
- The figures count different things: startups selected by the agencies, startups brought by partners, companies sent by state missions.
- The delegation has grown every year since 2022, when 80 companies came with Brazil's first pavilion.
- For 2026 the spread is the same: from 100 to about 300 (Brazil's startup mission).
Last year, five ways
| Figure for 2025 | What it counts | Who said it, and when |
|---|---|---|
| 151 | Participants selected by ApexBrasil, by region (80 from the Southeast, 35 from the Northeast) | DN Brasil, 10 November 2025, with ApexBrasil's Lisbon office |
| 247 | "Startups e empresas inovadoras" supported by ApexBrasil, Sebrae and Serpro | ApexBrasil, the rules for its 2026 mission |
| 340 | Startups and innovative companies: 256 selected by ApexBrasil and Sebrae, 84 by partners (Softex, Anprotec, Serpro) | Startups.com.br, 3 November 2025, quoting ApexBrasil |
| more than 370 | "Startups sediadas no Brasil" (startups based in Brazil) | DN Brasil, 10 November 2025 |
| almost 380 | Companies in the delegation, the 247 plus those of the state Sebraes | ApexBrasil, the rules for its 2026 mission (one version says "quase 380", another "380") |
The two largest figures include companies that the state branches of Sebrae brought on their own missions; the smaller ones count only what the national agencies selected. Startups.com.br adds that 123 of the 340 were at the summit for the first time.
Year by year
| Year | What the sources say |
|---|---|
| 2022 | 80 companies, the year of the first Brazil Pavilion (ApexBrasil to Lusa, in Forbes Portugal, 7 November 2023) |
| 2023 | A planned "record": 85 startups and 100 companies (the same report) |
| 2024 | 226 startups selected by ApexBrasil and Sebrae (Startups.com.br, 3 November 2025) |
| 2025 | 151 to almost 380 (above) |
| 2026 | 100 to about 300 (our article) |
Each year's figures come from different reports and may not count the same thing, so the table shows a direction, not a precise growth rate.
Why it matters
"One of the largest delegations" is true by every count. But a reader who wants to meet Brazilian startups at the summit cannot learn from these figures who they are. ApexBrasil's rules for 2026 promise the selected startups a place in a "catálogo digital da delegação brasileira" on its Buy Brazil platform; we have not seen it. The names we could find are in Rio's ten and Brazil on Web Summit's stages.
What this does not claim
- We did not ask ApexBrasil or Sebrae what each figure counts; the "what it counts" column follows each source's own words.
- We do not know how many Brazilian startups Web Summit itself counted in 2025; it publishes no count by country that we found.
- The 2023 figure was a plan, announced before the summit, not a count after it.
