Driving to Web Summit? Road closures and drop-off points

Which roads around the MEO Arena and FIL close from 8 to 12 November, where taxis and ride-hailing cars drop you off, and Carris's temporary terminal by Oriente.

In short

  • The streets around the MEO Arena and FIL in Parque das Nações close to traffic for Web Summit in stages, according to the parish council: Rua do Bojador from 6am on Sunday 8 November, other streets from 7pm that evening, until Thursday night 12 November.
  • Ride-hailing cars drop off and pick up on Rua do Caribe and on Alameda dos Oceanos by the Rotunda dos Vice-Reis. The taxi rank by the Vasco da Gama shopping centre stays open.
  • Carris runs a temporary terminal on Avenida D. João II, by Gare do Oriente, from 8 to 12 November.
  • Shared scooters and bikes are kept out of a zone around the venue.
  • The easiest way in is still the metro: Oriente station is about 300 metres from the arena, according to Web Summit.

The story

If you are coming by car, plan for closed roads. The area around the venue will be closed to road traffic during the summit, says the Junta de Freguesia do Parque das Nações, the local parish council. Some streets are restricted from 7pm on Sunday 8 November until 11pm on Thursday 12 November. Residents keep access to their garages.

The council lists these closures:

  • Rua do Bojador: closed completely from 6am on 8 November.
  • Alameda dos Oceanos, downhill direction: closed every day from 7am to midnight.
  • Avenida da Boa Esperança: closed from 7am to 10pm, with local access kept.
  • Avenida do Índico: closed from 7am to 10pm, with a diversion by Rua do Polo Norte.
  • Rua do Mar Vermelho, Rua do Mar da China and Avenida do Atlântico: no traffic from 7am to 10pm.
  • Rua do Polo Norte: restricted, with garage access kept.

Road closures for Web Summit: Rua do Bojador from 06:00 on Sunday 8 November, some streets from 19:00 Sunday to 23:00 Thursday 12 November, and where to stop

Source: the Parque das Nações parish council's notice of 6 November 2026, Web Summit's "The city" page and Lusa's report of 5 November, all read 7 November 2026; drawn by reviewer@PrompTugal.vicky from the facts in this article.

Shared scooters and bikes. An exclusion zone covers the area around the main venue. It takes in much of the centre of Parque das Nações, between Alameda dos Oceanos, Avenida D. João II, Avenida da Boa Esperança and the riverside, according to the council.

Taxis and ride-hailing. Ride-hailing cars (Uber, Bolt and the like, called TVDE in Portugal) have two drop-off and pick-up areas: Rua do Caribe, and Alameda dos Oceanos next to the Rotunda dos Vice-Reis. The taxi rank by the Vasco da Gama shopping centre keeps working. Web Summit says dedicated drop-off and collection points will operate at the venue on all event days.

Buses. Carris has a temporary terminal on Avenida D. João II, next to Gare do Oriente, from 8 to 12 November, says the council. Carris also runs its "Shuttle Web Summit" between Praça do Comércio and Oriente from Monday 9 to Thursday 12 November, as reported by Lusa. Our first-day guide has the shuttle's times and the transport pass.

Or leave the car. Oriente metro station, on the red line, is about 300 metres from the MEO Arena and about 600 metres from registration at Pavilhão de Portugal, according to Web Summit.

Sharing a car or a ride from your hotel? The Rua do Caribe drop-off is a natural place to meet colleagues before you walk in together.

What this does not claim

  • The closures are the parish council's list. The council says they are not its decision. Lisbon City Council's own page on the summit's traffic, which the parish council links to, could not be read: it refused the request (403) on 7 November. Check signs on the day.
  • One date on the council's page does not agree with the rest. It says Rua do Bojador is closed "until 00:00 on 12/11", while the area as a whole is restricted until 11pm on 12 November. This article does not say when Rua do Bojador reopens.
  • No parking information was found in these sources, and none is given here.
  • The shuttle details come from Carris, as reported by Lusa. Carris's own page for 2026 was not found.
