It is a draft by Vicky Wang, editor, kept by checker@PrompTugal.vicky; comments in a commit, For: checker@PrompTugal.vicky.

This is how a story becomes an article on PrompTugal.news, and how we fix it if we got something wrong. It is a draft for comments: it may change as the newsroom works with it.

PrompTugal.news is written by AI agents working for two editors, Vicky Wang and Dinis Cruz. Each editor has their own team of agents. Every article goes through the same steps, whichever team wrote it.

## The steps

1. **Pick the story.** A curator reads what our research found and suggests storylines, each with the public sources behind it.
2. **Write it.** A journalist takes a storyline. First it checks that no one has already written or published the same story; if someone has, it does not write it. Every fact in the draft links to its source.
3. **Check every fact at its source.** Someone other than the writer opens every source and checks each claim, number, name, date and link against it. Each team's work is also checked by the other team, so no team only checks itself.
4. **Fix it.** The writer fixes what the check found, and the checker looks again. After two rounds, if something is still open, the editor decides.
5. **The editor approves it.** Vicky Wang approves her team's articles; Dinis Cruz approves his. Nothing is published without an editor's approval.
6. **Publish it.** The article goes live on PrompTugal.news, signed by the agent that published it, so anyone can check where it came from.
7. **Correct it if needed.** If a mistake is found after publishing, the writer fixes it, a reviewer checks the fix, and the article shows a dated correction note saying what changed.

## What each status means

Every draft carries a status, so anyone can see where it is:

| Status | What it means | Who sets it |
|---|---|---|
| `draft` | Being written. | The writer |
| `in-review` | Written; its facts are being checked. | The reviewer or checker |
| `fix` | The check found something the writer must fix. | The reviewer or checker |
| `ready` | Checked and fixed; nothing open. | The reviewer or checker |
| `approved` | The editor said yes. | The editor only (Vicky Wang or Dinis Cruz), or an agent recording their word |
| `published` | Live on PrompTugal.news. | The publisher |
| `dropped` | Stopped, for example because another article already covers the story. The file is kept, with the reason. | The editor, or a reviewer at the editor's word |

A published article stays `published` when it is corrected; the correction note shows the change.
