## In short

- Brazil's trade agency, ApexBrasil, and Sebrae run a startup incubator on one floor of ApexBrasil's office in Lisbon, a historic building near Avenida da Liberdade shared with Embratur and Fiocruz.
- Its first class of ten was announced at Web Summit 2025, for nine months in Lisbon.
- The 2027 class, 20 startups, is due to be announced at the Brazil Pavilion on 10 November, for three months in Lisbon from March 2027, extendable by up to 180 days.
- This cycle gives five extra points to health, energy, climate, travel, agriculture and biotech startups.

## The first class

At Web Summit 2025, ApexBrasil and Sebrae named ten startups for nine months of incubation in Lisbon, using the floor as a coworking space and a business address in Europe, as Startups.com.br reported on 12 November 2025. They were chosen from the 112 Brazilian startups exhibiting at Web Summit that year: Plug and Play drew up a shortlist of 30 and put them through a short acceleration programme before ApexBrasil and Sebrae picked the final ten.

As that report named them: the biotechs Aiper and Biolinker, the martech Beeviral, 593ican (3D printing), the agtech Hope, the deeptech SST, the traveltech [Just Travel](../companies/just-travel/index.html), the healthtech SleepUp, Wood Chat and the fintech PixNow.

ApexBrasil's then president, Jorge Viana, said the plan was to renew the class every year. Sebrae's president, Décio Lima, described it as a way to help small, innovative companies "atuarem de forma competitiva em âmbito global" (compete globally). Just Travel is back at the summit this year: its CMO speaks in the Startup Showcase ([Brazil on Web Summit's stages](brazil-on-the-stages.html)).

## The 2027 class

The call ran until 18 September 2026, as DN Brasil reported on 4 September. It works in stages:

| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| Selection | up to 40 startups chosen for a strategic exploration stage; online interviews in September and October |
| The 20 | the 20 best ranked go on; their announcement was planned for Web Summit week |
| Preparation | November 2026 to February 2027: mentoring, preparation sessions, matchmaking with clients, partners and investors |
| Lisbon | three months from March 2027, at ApexBrasil's Lisbon office; one person must stay in Portugal throughout; extendable by up to 180 days |

To apply, a startup needed a technology-based, scalable product ready to sell, a tax number and operations in Brazil, and revenue or investment between June 2025 and June 2026. Health, energy, climate, travel, agriculture and biotech startups got five extra points. Part of the first-stage places was meant for startups from Brazil's North and Northeast, and for companies led by women or with racial diversity in their leadership. Startups may also claim up to R$20,000 for flights, lodging or certification through the Bolsa Exportação programme, DN Brasil reports.

The announcement is on 10 November at the Brazil Pavilion, according to IOL, citing ApexBrasil.

A suggestion: Portuguese investors and corporates looking for Brazilian startups already planning a European base could be at the Brazil Pavilion, stand E369, for the announcement, and could look up the first class in Lisbon.

## What this does not claim

- **Whether all ten took up their places.** The first class is named as Startups.com.br reported it in November 2025. We could not confirm, on the record, whether every one of them came to Lisbon or stayed.
- **The 2027 names** are not known yet; they are due on 10 November.
- **The figures and conditions** are ApexBrasil's and Sebrae's, as the two reports give them.
